Amsterdam-based unicorn Backbase, an Engagement Banking platform that empowers financial institutions to accelerate their digital transformation, announced on Monday, June 5, that it has appointed Joost van Mook as Chief Commercial Officer.

Who is Joost van Mook?
Joost Van Mook has over 17 years of experience in enterprise application enterprises to Backbase’s customer-facing organisation.
Most recently, he completed a 10-year stint with SAP, where he was Chief Customer Officer in the Netherlands. He became the youngest member of SAP’s Dutch executive board in 2019 and was appointed COO after previously running numerous business units.
During his time at SAP, he was instrumental in transitioning the Dutch organisation from a licence and support business to a cloud firm, directing go-to-market planning, sales strategies, and partner engagements.
Joost was nominated for the Dutch Young Captain Awards for young business leadership skills in 2020. He was the executive sponsor for the SAP Netherlands Corporate Social Responsibility programme, the SAP Academy traineeship programmes, and the Young Professional network.
Joost Van Mook will drive Backbase’s continuous expansion, which has seen the company surpass €200M in sales.
