Quadrivio sgrĀ launched fundraising for its new venture capital fund Ā TT Venture Due targeting committements for 100 million euros,Ā MF-Milano Finanza wrote yesterday.
The new vehicle will invest in startup companies with a specific focus onĀ life science, medTech, new materials and Ā cleantech sectors as previous TT Venture fund used to do, Moreover a new fund with focus on clean energyĀ and power production from renewable sources is Quadrivio’s next step.
Previous TT Venture fund raised 64 million euros in 2008 thanks to committements from a number of Italian banking foundations. SInce then it invested in 23 companies (Aim, Biouniversa,Ā Bluegreen,Ā Cogisen,Ā CryptoLab,Ā Directa Plus,Ā D-Orbit, Eucardia,Ā Glomeria Therapeutics,Ā IpadLab,Ā M31,Ā MilkyWay,Ā Pilegrowth Tech,Ā Personal Factory,Ā SanSeverino,Ā Sem+,Ā TTSeed,Ā TTAdvisor).
Quadrivio’s board also chose Elizabeth Marie Robinson as the new investment director of its venture capital area and Ā Valentina BoccaĀ as chief investment officer of Ā TTVenture fund.
Robinson, 57, is Ph.D in biotechnology at Massachusetts Institute of Technology and has 20 years’ experience in venture capital Ā and angel investing both in Italy and abroad. She is chairman of the Nicox Research Institute Ā and co-founder of Nicox sa.
Moreover will be members of the investment committee: Bƶrje Ekholm, chairman and ceo Ā ofInvestor AB, Chairman di NASDAQ OMX, ChairmanĀ of KTH Royal Institute of Technology;Ā Mario Ferrario, co-fiounder of Schroeder Italia and chairman of MCF Capital Partners;Ā Galeazzo Scarampi,Ā a former member of the managmeent board and investment director of Investor AB (Asia) and IFI International/Exor;Ā Pierluigi Zappacosta,Ā founder of Logitech anche chairman of Faro Venture.
Quadrivio sgr is one the leading private equity and venture capital operators in Italy- Quadrivio is also a fund of funds manager with interest also in the energy sector. Quadrivio actually has around one billion euros of assets under management and manages 11 close-end funds.
In Ā December 2012Ā Quadrivio sgr made a big deal in buying Fondamenta sgr. The latter had been controlled by its management team (led by former ceo Giuseppe Campanella) and by Futura Invest, an investment vehicle controlled by Fondazione Cariplo (one of the most important Italian banking foundations). Quadrivio is controlled by Genesi spa, the holding company controlled by Quadrivio sgr’s managment team (led by Ā chairmanĀ Alessandro BinelloĀ and ceoĀ Walter Ricciotti). Ā TT Venture used to be one of Fondamenta sgr’s managed funds.
